Assignment #8

Now it is time for some fun…

Do you have a favorite online educational game or interactive teaching tool you use with your students?

Show it to the class! You don’t? Well, find one you would like to use with your students. It may even be a very useful online utility like Puzzle Maker. (http://puzzlemaker.school.discovery.com/)

Here are our samples to check out:

Fun Brain: http://www.funbrain.com/

Discovery School: http://school.discovery.com/brainboosters/

Fun School: http://funschool.kaboose.com/

Educational Games: http://nobelprize.org/educational_games/

Be prepared to present a site not listed above to the class and show us how to play along.

If you want to make a simple hand-out with the web address that would be great but not required.

Go to Marian Online, External Link and add it as one of your bookmarks.

Also add this link to your Wiki.

Assignment #7

Assignment 7 is a Lesson Plan.

In MarianOnline "Course Materials," you will find a template for the lesson plan.

Download the template and filled it in.

Save this doc with your FirstNameLastNameLP.doc

Upload a copy of your Lesson Plan to your student folder.

There are a few rules for the lesson plan:
• It MUST be something new.
• It could be a lesson that you improve by including technology or something new you want to try.
• Be sure to include some teacher standards (1-10) in addition to the curriculum standards.

You will be presenting this lesson at our next meeting.

Create a PowerPoint presentation or use some other software to present your lesson. This should be a summary of the lesson and its use of technology. You do not need to complete the entire lesson with us.

Assignment #6

On your Wiki, list 3 of your favorite websites - 2 of the 3 must be related to education.

Copy the web addresses and paste them into the Wiki.

It is easiest to open a new window and work between the two places. Once you've copied the address, paste it in the Wiki.

In addition to the web address, give a brief description of what we will find when we get to the site.

Now open your Marian Online account and go to External Links.

Create 3 new bookmarks, just copy and paste the information from your Wiki.

Assignment #5

The fifth assignment is a PDP. As part of your Masters program, you will be required to complete a Professional Development Plan.

A template has been created for you and can be found on Marian Online in the "Course Materials." Save the template to your flash drive.

Fill out your goals and objectives as they relate to this technology program. After you have completed go to your Marian Online account and upload the file to your student folder.

Name it: FirstNameLastNamePDP.doc

Assignment #4

The fourth assignment is to create a classroom blog. A blog is similar to an online diary of sorts. View the powerpoint show explaining blogs by going to 'Course Materials' in Marian Online. You may also find it helpful to read the articles mentioned in discussion question #4.

Once you've completed this, you will go to Blogger.com to create your own for classroom usage. There are easy steps to follow to get started. Be sure you save your log-in name and password, as you will need it to make any updates. As you can see, our blog has your assignments posted on it~one way a class blog could be used. Once you have created the blog, post its address on your wiki.

Assignment #3

Assignment #3 requires you to go back to Marian Online to the blue navigation bar (left hand side).

Under "Discussion/Group" you will find discussion questions.

You need to complete the questions and requirements under each.

Remember to use "reply" to respond to the original question. Use "subthread" to comment on a classmates response.

Take time to read other comments and reply if need or if you just want to…remember everybody in the group can see your replies and comments.

Midterm

By the end of the third week you should have completed assignment 1 and 2 as well as discussion 1 and 2. Please have them submitted by midnight on Sunday. Points will be deducted for late submissions.

Assignment #2

Your second assignment requires the use of technology in classrooms. Visit the "External Links" as well as the Internet Resources folder in "Course Materials" to explore some great web sites. Use these sites or a search engine to find at least three lessons that you believe model good technology integration. This could be as simple as a PowerPoint presentation shared with the students or as involved as having students create their own webpage.

In your Wiki explain the three lessons. Do not worry about a particular "lesson plan" format, but be sure to include the grade level, subject, title of the lesson, and technology integration. The point of the assignment is to recognize the impact technology has/can have in your teaching. Many of you are already using technology every day!

Assignment #1

To complete assignment #1, you need to create a Wiki by going to http://www.wikispaces.com/site/for/teachers.

A wiki is collaborative tool that allows you to post and organize information to share online. Visitors have the ability to add and modify information in this space as well. You will continue to add material to this Wiki as you work through this Master's program.
